December 2023: Please note that the Cub program will be changing as of June 1, 2024. Some of these items may be able to still be used, but they will not follow the program exactly. Perhaps they can be a spring board for those who are planning their Cub years.

If you read my “about” page, you’ll know that I took a role pretty blindly. There was no manual or guidance handed down. Instead, I took to internet searches, online MyScouting training, and seeking a Scouting mentor with a local Venture Crew who had served as a den leader and cubmaster in the past.

We are fortunate to be in an area with decent weather year round, so it makes it a little easier for activity planning. Our dens meet for one hour every Tuesday night of the month at 7 pm except for the last Tuesday of the month when we meet as a Pack. So take what you want from this guide, use it as a jumping off point for you, and may God bless you on your den leader planning!

*** Update August 2022:

Please note that as of May 31, 2022, 19 Cub adventures have been retired. You will need to remove these and replace with other activities or pack outings. I would recommend looking at including the age-appropriate religious emblem program that fits your unit if parents agree.

The retired Wolf adventures are:

Collections and Hobbies
Grow Something
Hometown Heroes
Motor Away

Cub Scout Wolf Den Yearly Supplies List – I found that asking on Facebook got a lot of used but useable items donated, which was tremendously helpful.

Wolf Den Advancements Calendar
This plan is meant to run during a school year and to complete every adventure in the Wolf Handbook. However, please note that Spirit of the Water is the only one not listed as the swimming requirements are expected to be done with the families the summer entering the Wolf year.

Wolf Year Master Outline
This plan works off of the modified requirements as of December 2016. The plan makes few references to the Leader Guide, but mostly uses the pages out of the Wolf Handbook. When needing the Leader Guide, you can use Google to search for that adventure online and find a PDF.

Changes

I had great intentions, but sometimes, things just don’t quite work out. Here’s some of the modifications I had to make this year:

Grow Something – Instead of making a terrarium, we grew sweet potato plants. There was just too much expense into getting the plants, so I went with cheaper and simpler.
