New Pack Parent Pack
I kept seeing the topic of new parent guides pop up on the Cub Scout Volunteers Facebook page, so I decided to share mine (which I put into prong folders). I created a separate guide for the Pack parents (I’m the Cubmaster) and my Webelos den (I’m the Webelos den leader). This post will detail the New Pack Parent folder.
Inside the front folder are papers that they need to complete and return to me:
- Youth Application
- Health Forms A & B (I give two copies to start, but all members of families are required to turn them in for participating in any of our events)
- BSA Talent Form
- Parent Information Guide to Cub Scouts (booklet provided by our council)
- Boy’s Life “Scout Me In” booklet (provided by our council)
- Pack scholarship application
The prong section contains the items that they will need to reference throughout the year, including:
- A letter from the Cubmaster (me)
- Outline of our fees and fundraisers for the Scout year
- Calendar of events for the entire Scout year (August – May)
- Uniforming Your Scout handout (to aid in uniform purchases)
- New Cub Camping Checklist
- PRAY Religious Emblems information (I provide the programs for Jesus and Me, God and Me, and God and Family for our Pack)
- Popcorn information sheet (provided by our council)
- Follow the Trail to Bobcat (provided by our council)
- Scout Shop information flyer (provided by our council)
- Haunted Trail Campout flyer and council event calendar (provided by our council)
The back folder pocket contains the Trails End popcorn order form. We would be detailing popcorn more at the Pack meeting that month, so rather than scare all the new parents on the first night, we waited a little while for them to acclimate.
